Recorded summary

This joint resolution, passed by the House, would nullify a Department of Energy rule published January 21, 2025, that set new, more stringent energy conservation standards for commercial refrigerators, freezers, and refrigerator-freezers. The rule had required compliance by January 22, 2029. Passage would remove that compliance obligation for covered equipment.

Theological note: The issue touches stewardship of creation and the proper limits of government regulation. Energy efficiency rules can serve prudent stewardship and consumer cost savings, while also imposing compliance burdens on businesses. Scripture gives no direct verdict on this specific appliance standard, so the question is one of prudential judgment under general equity and the proper role of civil authority.
